Winston Cup haulers

Tell me more about the high cost of racing ....

With cars, parts and the trucks themselves I figure at a bare minimum there is $10.000.000 worth of equipment here - and I don't know anything about the equipment inside the trucks .... Not only that, but this is just 1/3 of the field and half a dozen of them left before the race started on Sunday.

Then there are the motor homes in the drivers' compound. Million dollar Prevost coaches abound and most if not all of them have a enough money in the paint jobs to keep me in camping gear my whole life.

I'm not criticizing, only commenting on what I saw. I also saw some pretty compelling reasons for the owners and drivers to ensure that their staff and families have all the perks they can give them. The infield compound is so full of diesel exhaust by 7:30 each night that you could cut the air with a knife and there are no rolling campgrounds set in idyllic woods. It is just a big, paved parking lot.
